Act Six is highly competitive and applications are due VERY EARLY in the year, well ahead of nearly all other college and scholarship applications. (Why so early?) With a full-ride scholarship on the line, it is critical that students begin early to thoughtfully and carefully prepare their applications. Students should also be aware that school officials and recommenders may be unaccustomed to so early a deadline.

Completed applications and all supporting forms and documents must be postmarked no later than October 14, 2008. (See complete timeline.)

There are two ways to obtain an Act Six application:

Download the application in PDF or Word format.
The quickest way to get a copy of the application. You can view, print, and (with the Word version) complete the application directly from your computer.

Request that we mail an application to you.
You will receive an application within a week of the date of your request.
The application consists of six parts:

  1. Application for Freshman Admission. A three-page form providing basic biographic, educational, and extracurricular information.
  2. Personal Essays. A critical component in helping us get to know the applicant, these essays should be carefully and thoughtfully prepared.
  3. Financial Information. Because of the nature of the scholarship commitment, an estimate of basic family financial information is required. Neither high nor low income levels will make students ineligible.
  4. School Report and Official Transcript.  This form reporting academic information must be completed by a school official and returned with an official transcript.
  5. Academic Recommendation. A letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, or other person at school who is familiar with the applicant's academic work.
  6. Community Recommendation. A letter of recommendation from a pastor, mentor, employer, or other person (possibly someone at school) familiar with the applicant's leadership potential and involvement outside of school.

There is no application fee to apply for Act Six. Students applying for George Fox University not selected for Act Six will still be considered for regular admission to George Fox.

The applicant should mail or deliver the completed application along with all required forms and documents by October 14, 2008 directly to Act Six (not George Fox or Portland Community College) at:
